Scramble Zone
The ScrambleZone at Mepal is a climbing area like no other! A spookily lit cave with nearly 30 metres of brightly decorated climbing walls ranging from slabs to overhangs with a variety of routes to test everyone. In the ScrambleZone you climb ROUND rather than UP (called traversing). The great thing is, you don't need a helmet or harness, because the whole system is less than 2.8m high with a springy rubber floor* which is designed to keep you safe. The ScrambleZone is open to anyone, but we do insist that under 8s are supervised by an adult, just to make sure that they don't inadvertently climb higher than they can climb down!

The ScrambleZone is part of the children's playpark and is included in the admission charge for 5 - 11s. Young people and adults aged 12 and upwards are very welcome to use the ScrambleZone but must buy an wristband at reception.... just £1.50. Please remember though, the wristband entitles you to use the ScrambleZone only; the swing, sandpits, ball pool and other play equipment is still reserved exclusively for the use of under 12s!
* The rubber crumb floor is designed to meet the requirement of the appropriate British Standard for play surfaces such that a head first fall from the maximum height is unlikely to result in a serious cranial injury. However, anyone falling awkwardly onto any surface, even rubber crumb, may sustain other injuries, including strains, sprains, contusions or fractures and we do recommend that all minors are supervised when climbing anywhere and that adults take account of the risk to which they expose themselves whenever and wherever they climb!
