BCU UKCC L2 Transfer Module
A two day intensive programme to enable a current level 2 kayak or canoe coach to transfer to the new UKCC scheme. Following the training course you will have to collect together a substantial body of evidence and then be assessed as a Level 2 BCU / UKCC coach. We are running an assessment on September 2nd and you should be able to get your assessment portfolio together for then.
The pre-requisites are: Existing L2 award on one discipline, 2 * in the opposite discipline, Level 2 registration with the BCU (complete the CR form from the website and register - cr from downloadable form this website as you'll never find it on the BCU website!), Canoe Safety Test or Foundation Safety & Rescue training.
Before assessment you must be able to demonstrate 3 star competence in both canoe and kayak (and ideally hold beoth awards), show at least 20 hours of quality coaching experience - not just beginners,, includein a series of six progressive lessons with a review for each one and have completed the assessment postfolio..
Why should I bother? Your existing qualification will be honoured by the BCU so long as you update regularly. However, you will be a betterequipped coach with the additional insight of the new award and you will be qualified to work with paddlers in any craft and you will have your skills recognised on the same scale as new coaches coming through. The choice is yours!
Book here online and then immediately register with the BCU using the CR form. They will send you the workbook and assessment portfolio so that you can make a start on gathering the evidence immediately. N the meantime you can also take the LTPD quiz on www.canoecoaching.org.uk and add the certificate to your portfolio.
